A romantic walk by the river – pack up a picnic basket with a flask of cocoa or a bottle of wine and head to York’s main river. Running right through the centre means you can start at one end where it is greener and then head into the centre for a quick pit stop, and then back out the other side to the greener areas again. If you are still feeling energetic after your picnic you can head back up the other side too. This is the perfect way to spend time together on a lovely sunny day, or at sunset when the riverside is quieter and more romantic.

Looking for views that rival Clifford’s Tower? You can climb up to the top of the Minster’s roof to experience some more amazing views over the city. Afterwards, you can spend time sauntering around the neighbouring Dean’s park to get some amazing external views of the Minster and the beautiful gardens.
