Booking and Payment

How much deposit do I need to secure the accommodation?

A deposit of 25% of the total accommodation cost is required with 7 days of booking. This is non-refundable should you cancel at any time after booking.

What time is check-in/check out?

Check-in is from 3pm onwards and check out is by 10.30am.

Can I arrive or depart any earlier?

We are happy to allow you to arrive 1 hour earlier providing the circumstances allow us to e.g. There are no departures on your day of arrival. Similarly, if we do not have any arrivals on your day of departure we will allow you to check out 1 hour later. However this cannot be confirmed until approximately 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. Although we will try our best we cannot guarantee early arrival or late check out.

What is the pre-authorisation? Does the money leave my account?

The pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of an amount to guarantee funds are available to cover any incidentals or extra charges which may occur during your stay. This is not an extra charge and will not affect the cost of your booking. No money will be debited from your account, however you do need to have the funds available as this will show as a pending transaction. Please refer to our terms and conditions page for further details.

What is the amount you pre-authorise?

We pre-authorise up to £200.00 per cottage booked. One card or multiple cards may be used.

When do I need to provide you with card details to pre-authorise for incidentals?

We will contact you, within 7 days of your arrival, by telephone for your card details

When will the pre-authorisation be released?

The pre-authorisation amount will be released following departure, providing we do not need to process a payment. Funds take on average 10 working days to clear on your statement from the date of transaction. This varies from bank to bank but should not take more than 30 days.

What happens if I cancel my booking?

Amenities and Key Notes

What is provided in the cottages?

All cottages are fully equipped for a self-catered stay (see above). Amenities include; washing machine*, dishwasher*, cooker and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer*, colour TV, DVD player, CD player, iron and ironing board. We also provide washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets (if applicable), tea towels, dishcloth and sponge, kitchen roll, toilet roll, bin liners, hand soap, kitchen bleach spray, toilet duck and air freshener. Tea, coffee and sugar sachets and milk pots are also provided for one welcome drink only.

Please note we do not provide shampoo/ conditioner/body wash. We advise guests to bring their own toiletries

 Are there glasses, plates and cutlery in the cottage?

All of our cottages are fully equipped for a self-catered stay including all cutlery, utensils, crockery, pots, pans, glasses (water, pint, wine and champagne glasses) and mugs.

Are towels and bedding provided?

We provide all bed and sofa bed linen, and one bath towel per person. Please note we do not provide additional towels for use of the hot tub*. Please bring your own towels if you have booked a hot tub.

Are hairdryers provided in the cottages?

No- we advise that guests bring their own hairdryer.

Can we bring extras guests and airbeds?

No – Maximum occupancy of each cottage must not be exceeded. Airbeds are strictly not permitted. We may instruct you or any member of your party to leave immediately where the maximum numbers have been exceeded.

Can you provide high chairs and cots?

High chairs and cots can be provided free of charge upon request.

Is there a BBQ at the cottage?

We can provide a BBQ free of charge upon request. You are required to bring your own coal

Can I arrange a supermarket food delivery?

Yes, however please make sure you choose a time slot for after you have arrived at the cottage, as we may not have a member of staff on-site to accept this for you.

Where is the hot tub located? (If applicable to your booking)

The hot tub will be situated at the rear patio doors of the cottage. Hot tubs are limited to one per cottage for those applicable. If you have booked multiple cottages the hot tubs will be located at each cottage booked. We cannot place two hot tubs at the same cottage. Hot tubs are not located at the following cottages: Cottage 1, Cottage 2, Cottage 3 and Cottage 5.

How many parking spaces are at Murton Grange?

There is ample parking at Murton Grange, we do not have a set number of spaces allocated to each cottage. However, please be aware there may be other guests needing parking space also, so we advise coming in as minimal amount of cars as possible.

Is there an electric car charging point at Murton Grange?

We do not have an electric car charging point. There is a bpPulse charging station located at LNER Community Stadium (YO32 9AF) which is only a 10 minute drive away. Surrounding the stadium is also Monks Cross Shopping Park, Vangarde Leisure & Shopping Park and various supermarkets all of which have electric vehicle charging points.

Is there Wi-Fi?

We provide Wi-Fi free of charge, however, please note that the provision of free Wi-Fi is not unlimited. It is intended for general web browsing and we kindly ask you to refrain from downloading items from the internet. We reserve the right to charge for excessive use.

Do you allow smoking?

All properties are strictly non-smoking. We reserve the right to charge £50.00 if it is found that you or any member of your group has been smoking within the accommodation. Smoking containers are provided on the picnic benches on the patio areas of the cottages.

Do you have cottages with disabled access?

Cottage 3 is a ground floor property with a ramp and has a disabled adapted wet room.

Do you accept dogs?

We accept dogs upon request only. There is an additional charge of £30.00 per pet. We kindly ask you do not let your dog in any of the bedrooms, first-floor areas or on any furniture, sofas or beds. Dogs must be under supervision at all times during your stay and kept on a lead when on the grounds.

The Farmhouse has its own secured garden suitable for those staying in The Farmhouse with pets

What is the closest train station?

York Railway station is the closest station, located less than 5 miles away from Murton Grange, approximately 15-20 minutes by car.

How far away is York City Centre?

Murton Grange is less than 5 miles from the centre of York, approximately 15-20 minutes by car.

Is there a bus stop near Murton Grange?

There is no bus stop within a reasonable and safe distance from Murton Grange. We recommend transport by your own vehicle or taxi.

Are there any taxi numbers provided in the cottages?

Yes, you will find these in the guest information folder in each cottage. Alternatively, here are a few numbers:

What is the closest supermarket and how far away is this from Murton Grange?

The closest supermarket is ASDA, ALDI, or Sainsbury’s at Monks Cross Shopping Park. This is less than a 10-minute drive away.

What is the closest pub and how far away is this from Murton Grange? Is this within walking distance?

There are 4 pubs located within a 10-minute drive of Murton Grange:

The Fox Inn at Stockton on Forest, The Derwent Arms in Osbaldwick, The Toby Carvery at Hopgrove, and Pear Tree Farm at Monks Cross. We do not recommend walking to any of these pubs as the roads leading to these pubs are long bendy country roads with no footpaths or streetlights.

Important Information


Please note that there is no reception at Murton Grange. For all arrival information please refer to your correspondence with us.  

Check in is from 3.00pm and check out is by 10.30am, unless arranged otherwise.  

Families are welcome- however please keep in mind we accept group bookings including hen and stag parties.
